Kakapo a special fat parrot from New Zealand that can not fly

Kakapo a special fat parrot from New Zealand that can not fly.

The kakapo are large and stocky parrots: males can grow to 60 cm and weigh between 3 and 4 kg after reaching maturity. The kakapo can not fly, so they have small wings relative to their size, and small bones and some made in the sternum (which in other birds entrench the flight muscles).

They use their wings for balance and support as well as to cushion their falls when jumping from the trees. Unlike other land birds, and living in a colder climate than most species of parrots, the kakapo can accumulate large amounts of body fat for insulation and to store energy.

Women in New Zealand die from consumption of Coca-Cola

WELLINGTON, New Zealand. - The habit of a woman to take seven and a half liters (two gallons) of Coca-Cola a day probably contributed to her death, experts say. The giant beverage producer responded by saying that even water can be fatal in large amounts.

Natasha Harris was a 30-year-old mother of eight, of Invercargill, who died of a heart attack in 2010. Fairfax Media said a pathologist testified Thursday that she probably suffered from hypokalemia or low potassium, caused by excessive consumption of Coca-Cola and generally poor nutrition.

Harris's partner said she drank 10 liters (2.6 gallons) of Coca-Cola a day. He added that she ate little and smoked about 30 cigarettes a day.

The Forensic Service is compiling a final report on the death of Harris.
